Deadly headshots
Deadly headshots
Hey, guys.
We all know that if u r shooting to someone u can just injure him. How do u like the idea to make deadly headshots?
So person will be injured if u shoot at body and instantly killed if helmet didn't stop the bullet that ur soldier got in head.
U know it looks a bit funny when someone got .50 caliber at his head and then:
-MEDIC!
-yes, here is ur new head please.
Let's make headshots great again.

Re: Deadly headshots
There is a toggle to enable exactly this feature. Anyway, we decided a long time ago to not enable this feature. Anyway, we can discuss this here.

+1 (if the helmet stuff works correctly)
Re: Deadly headshots
Do any headshot instantly kill? Like a pistol bullet from far away too? Should a headshot to an already downed soldier make him die instantly? What about explosions - I'm sure they also damage the head? What if you do 99% damage to the body, then 1% damage to the head with some very small arms fire at a distance, is that enough to instantly kill? What about the opposite: 99% damage headshot, and then the last point of damage in the torso.. Should that not instantly kill?
It's a little weird to be able to resurrect soldiers from all kinds of damage (except being inside vehicles that explode). But maybe changing this will be even weirder and less interesting for gameplay.

Re: Deadly headshots
Arma has a very good material penetration and ballistic mechanics.
So far away bullet from pistol will not kill u, cuz it has not enough penetration energy (if u know what I mean).
Idea is to make gameplay a lil more realistic.
And yes headshots to injured soldier should kills him (if bullet can penetrate his helmet according to game mechanics).
U know it's really hard to stay alive if u have a bullet at ur head
So u can enter virtual arsenal and just see how it works.

Re: Deadly headshots
I am also in favour to introduce this feature. This would be more interesting for fights, and more rewarding for skilled marksman/fighters.
"Sir, we are surrounded!"
"Good, now we can attack in all directions!"

Not a fan of that mechanic.
It deprives medics of a purpose and leads to less team-play (seen it first hand when we introduced it at EUTW-CTI: 'critical hit') and makes you have a ton of lone-wolfs out there and teamplay for random people suffers immensly.
Additionally:there is a way already inside the game to semi-permanently take someone off the board. Its called "kill" as opposed to "drag" and "stabilize". You have to go out and purposely kill them. Which makes YOU expose Yourself. YOU cant just sit on your mountain in the hopes of wrecking up huge kill-streaks against teams.
Be advised that this (depending on implementation) might also happen when killed by high-caliber rounds and/or explosives.
Again, not a fan of THAT particular "Gamemechanic" since it changes the dynamic completely.

But there no any sense to be a good marksman right now. U can play just a zerg style.ECID wrote:Not a fan of that mechanic.

I think there should be a good reward for good marksman.
Re: Deadly headshots
Your enemy incaps - you don't. If you don't fancy putting yourself in harms danger, you can just wait it out (5 minutes of area control should not be an issue for a "good marksman" , should it ?)But there no any sense to be a good marksman right now.

Re: Deadly headshots
@ECID the problem is that with all the cover possibilites e.g. smoke, vehicles its easy to revive. Also the revive duration/animation is very short. So at the moment a group of 5+ ppl is almost impossible to kill if u are e.g. a 2 man group (especially when they also have a spawn beacon). And lets face it most ppl are playing in 2-3 man groups.
